I like Daphne Du Mauriers short fiction.
Others I like are "The Yattering & Jack", "The Body Politic" and "In the Hills The Cities" by Clive Barker. He has an amazine way of making you picture the scene with such gorgeous and vivid prose.

Yeah, I have to agree with you two. Just about anything by Barker is top-notch.
Besides that...oh dear, this is a toughie. "October Game" by Ray Bradbury is probably my favorite of all time. "The Frolic" by Thomas Ligotti is also up there.

Hmm....favorite short story. Well...I did enjoy "The Midnight Meat Train" and recently I think Edward Lee's "Mr Torso" was great as well.

From one Michael West to another, I couldn't agree more with your selections. Every one of them. Especially "Rawhead Rex". What a wonderfully gruesome story. Especially the munching of the little girl. Classic!
Two that I may add though are Stephen King's "The Raft" and "The Mist". I think "The Mist" would make for a fantastic full blown movie.

I think "The Mist" would make for a fantastic full blown movie. I do love The Mist. I must've read it more than a dozen times. I have the audio book of it that was done in 3-D sound. It's a lot of fun. ;D

"The Yellow Wallpaper" is my all time favorite short story. I also love King's "The Mist" and "The Raft", Oates' "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?", Hawthorne's "Young Goodman Brown", Bierce's "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge", Updike's "A&P", Poe's "Cask of Amontillado", and O'Connor's "Good Country People".
