There are some books that you read once and never pick up again. Then there are books that, no matter how many times you read them, you never grow tired of them. Some of my favorites:
Stephen King's The Stand, 'Salem's Lot, The Shining, Night Shift
Clive Barker's Books of Blood
Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park

Honestly, there are very few books that I've read more than once.
Ten Little Indians I've read three times. Something Wicked This Way Comes twice and Les Miserables twice. Frankenstein and The Monk I could probably read over and over.
I have read the Books of Blood quite a few times, though (and will continue to do so).

I've read Ten Little Indians several times (the book and the play) and was actually in the play in high school. Something Wicked This Way Comes is great. I also love Bradbury's Illustrated Man and Fahrenheit 451. Sorry to say I think I've only read Frankenstein and Dracula once. Of course, there are the Lord of the Rings books. Another favorite of mine is Arthur C. Clarke's The Songs of Distant Earth.I have read the Books of Blood quite a few times, though (and will continue to do so). Those stories just get better each time you read them, don't they? I used to have them in these paperbacks that I read so much they started to fall apart. Now I have a hard cover volume that has all three books together in one volume. I found it at Half Priced Books one day and couldn't believe it! ;D

I wrote my first "adult" short story after finishing the the third "Book Of Blood". I'm with you on the books falling apart. I WANT THAT COLLECTION! It was at my local Waldenbooks for years and when I finally went to buy it, it was gone. I'll have to track it down online.
Ah, another "Ten Little Indians" fan...I knew I liked you for a reason! LOL Wonderful book, although I can't say that I was in the play.

I wrote my first "adult" short story after finishing the the third "Book Of Blood". I think Book III is the one that has "Rawhead Rex," isn't it? That's one of my favorite short stories of all time. Hmmmm...sounds like the topic for another thread.

I've read Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend" so many times I can't count them all. It's still engrossing each and every time I start it. And it's one of those books that I can't put down until I've finished it.

The books of Charles Bukowski do it for me every time. I've read his novels countless times. They really salve the soul. Catcher in the Rye gets read once a year generally, and the Books of Blood are a good choice too. I read Camus over and over also.

"The Stand" is also a book I've read numerous times. When it was first released I read it straight through. Made for one long night of coffee and cigarettes! When the unabridged version came out, I did the same thing. Now I'll read it in fits and spurts, once a year. I do so love it.
On the non-horror fiction side, I've also read Salinger's "Catcher in the Rye" and "Franny and Zooey" more times than I can count. In fact, we almost named our first daughter Phoebe.

There are only two books that i have read more than once since I've been an adult. They are:
Ancient Images by Ramsey Campbell (twice) and Night Things by Michael Talbot (4times)
I read slowly though, so if I read the same one too often than I won't get to go after something new, which I generally prefer to do.
