Hello. I'm new to this website so my apologies ahead of time if I'm off the mark with this thread.
When I was young I remember seeing a movie in the very early 70's that I only saw once, but it always stuck in a brain cell in the back of my head. It was only recently that I finally recalled the title - it was "20,000,000 Lights Years to Earth". After a million and one Google searches, I finally found a reference to that title in one of these forums. Sadly, that thread stated that this was a movie that may be lost forever. Is this the same movie? How can it be truly lost? Was there only one copy, and it's now lost or destroyed? This is a movie I would truly love to see again, if it is indeed the same one. Can someone offer me some insight on this movie? Thanks a bunch!

First of all, greetings and welcome to the board! ;D Second, about the title you speak of...there may be some confusion. 20,000,000 Light-years to Earth is a film I did in the 7th grade. The project was never finished, and yes, there was but one copy on VHS, and it has since been misplaced and / or destroyed. I think what you are actually referring to is a film about a Martian spaceship uncovered in a London subway. It was called Quartermass and the Pit in England, but here in the states it went by the title 5 Million Years to Earth. Here is some more info on that film: www.imdb.com/title/tt0062168/And yes, it is currently unavailable, but it has not been lost forever. It's simply on moratorium, which means no video tapes or DVDs are being produced at this time. If you have the money, however, you can get a pricey copy through Amazon.com. Here is more info on that: www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&tag=imdb-adbox&index=dvd&hidden-keywords=6305095477|%20B0002XP01E|%20B0000W5H92&link%5Fcode=qsAnother movie you may be thinking of is 20 Million Miles to Earth. This is a classic black & white Ray Harryhausen film that features a creature from Venus called the Ymir. The Ymir egg is found in a spaceship that crashes off the coast of Italy. It then hatches and grows at an alarming rate until it finally rampages through Rome. If that's the movie, it is readily available on DVD and Blue Ray. Here's more info on that: www.amazon.com/Million-Miles-Earth-50th-Anniversary/dp/B000QGEB1W/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1198867127&sr=1-1Hope this helps.

Wow! Thanks a lot for all that info! You were right on all accounts. The movie you describe about the alien spaceship in the London subway is exactly the movie I was thinking of. And I do remember the Ray Harryhausen movie, and I really enjoyed that a lot when I was a kid, too (although, I have not seen it since). I think I got the two titles confused and morphed them into one title.
With all this fresh information I am now on a mission to get both movies! Thank you VERY MUCH for your help! This is like a belated Christmas gift!
HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR!
