Okay, when I was little, I'll admit it. I was scared of Goosebumps. I still can't watch it. I did, however, love watching Are You Afraid of the Dark? It used to play on Nickaloadian (sp?) and it was rated Y7. Why do I know this? Cause I remember laying on my mom's bed yelling at the tv "Haha, I'm only 6!" The things you say when you're little. . .

For my brother and I it was Night Gallery. I got my Grandmother to let us stay up and watch it. It was one about a vampire girl on a barge or something. Anyway, it scared the hell out of my brother and I was a bit freaked myself.

Well, this was back in the 70's. God, she's making me feel so old.

She'll do that to you! LOL
Cassie, I use to watch "Are You Afraid of the Dark" well into my teens. They had some great episodes. I used to watch Goosebumps on FOX Saturday mornings with my son (along with Eerie Indian--remember that?). All three shows were a lot of fun.
Now for me, the intro to TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE used to scare the living shit out of me. I used to turn the volume down on the TV when it came on. The shows themselves, however, rarely scared me.

Be grateful, Cassie. It's Hell to be old. Tom, I remember Eerie Indiana. My favorite episode, because I'm from Indiana and I could so relate to it, was the one where the kid decides he's not going to be on Indiana time so he sets his watch back an hour with the rest of the country. Then, when he wakes up, everyone is gone. It seems he is now an hour ahead of everyone in time and they haven't caught up yet. He finds that there are these people who go around moving items and things so that people think they have lost them. It was a great episode. ;D

Casie, honey, you need to get some of the DVDs of these old shows - they are fab!
I loved Twilight Zone. I would sneak down late at night and watch reruns on PBS.
I also loved Kolchak the Night Stalker.....what a show!

Could not agree more! ;D I also loved this show called Hammer's House of Horror. There were some really great episodes. One..."Silent Scream" I think it was called... had Peter Cushing as a scientist who had captured this couple and was studying them in this soundproof glass cage. The end of that is simply chilling.

oh do tell! I've not seen that show and didn't see it 'back in the day'. This was pre-cable and in the mountains, we were lucky to get the three networks and PBS! I loved Twilight Zone. Oh, yeah, now we're talking turkey.
Weekends I was drunk with horror series'. When I was a kid, we didn't have cable, so my top ones were Thriller Double Feature (a local thing here in Michigan), Monsters, Tales from the Darkside, Friday the Thirteenth, Twilight Zone, and Night Gallery...
And then we got CABLE and it was all over. I LIVED for Tales from the Crypt and Outer Limits(Never saw the old episodes, though).
Hey, does anybody remember Body Bags? I think there was only one and there's a debate as to whether it was a TV special on cable or if there were a bunch that I just don't know about.

John Carpenter did this for Showtime. They just showed it again on Sci-Fi channel a few weeks ago. Great little anthology. Tobe Hooper's "Eye" (the last one) was a little weak, mainly because of Mark Hammel's southern accent (or lack there of). Great show. They only did the one. I wish they would have done more.

Nods. Agreed. Ironically enough, Eye's the one that sticks out in my mind. Damned if I know why. :S

Dr. Who was a great show. We had a local channel that would show an entire story arc every Saturday night when I was in high school. Very cool. Never really found it scary though.
