YES!!!! ;D I was watching Dawn of the Dead and The Eye last night on IFC and saw the promos for this. I can't wait to watch it. It is about damn time somebody looked into who is rating films and why. I'm really excited to see this one.

What mystifies me is why this film is NC-17. It looks about as raw as Mad Hot Ballroom. There's an article about the process of appealing the rating of "This Film is not yet Rated", but it never addresses what got it the rating in the first place.

It's not rated. The promo says the film is "not yet" and then changes to "will never be" rated by the MPAA.
I can't wait to see this thing. It is about time someone lifts the veil and looks up the MPAA's skirt to see the nasty, hidden bits.

I'm saying that the film This Film is Not Yet Rated is, in fact, rated NC-17. I read an article about it (New York Times? Film Comment?) in which the director described the process of appealing the rating for this very film.
Well, wait - it's probably unrated, but that was the response when it was submitted. It's in the FLM magazine available at Landmark'r theaters.

hmmmm...a film about the ratings system gets an nc-17? the only thing they coupld possibly have done to 'justify' that is to show examples of the things that got certain films rated nc-17 in the first place, and how they were fixed by trimming, say, 5 frames...
other than that, it would have to be sour grapes...and even that is prob sour grapes...
are they releasing it unrated then?
