what are the chances of mr. west's 1991 film, of tomorrow's unknown, seeing a release?
if, say, we are fortunate enough to see wide game adapted into a film, and are even more fortunate that mr. west is able to direct the film, might this masterpiece see the light of day as an extra on the special edition...
or, dare we hope to dream, moonlight, another early west creation?
the world waits with baited breath!
(actually, m. night shyamalan does this to great success on his dvds. its not a bad idea, really. it would certainly be a lot of fun...)

Interesting suggestion. I have toyed with the idea of personally adapting The Wide Game for the screen. Of course Poseidon's Children would be a huge Summer event film--the Star Wars of horror, if you will. While I do not think there is any way in hell it will get a wide or even limited release outside of Indianapolis, I would love to include the complete and uncut version of Of Tomorrows Unknown with the DVD release of my first film. I have another short film, Replay, that could one day see the light of DVD as well. Gems such as Moonlight, Alien Among Us, and 20,000,000 Light Years to Earth, alas, may be lost to us. Perhaps some crack restoration team will one day forge their way into my parents basement and find these nuggets of history, but time will tell.

I wanted to once, tried even, but you wouldn't let me. Forget the others - 20,000,000 Light Years to Earth... it's classic West, raw, unpolished, pure...
Where is it?

That's a very good question. All of those old video tapes are supposedly at my parents' house. Digging through them and finding the right one would be time consuming at best, so it has yet to be attempted. Before they moved, however, I think I did find the tape that Moonlight was on, but it was damaged beyond repair.

moonlight must not be lost to the world. if it cannot be repaired, then it must be remade. i suggest a shot for shot remake, a la van sant's psycho...it is posible you will receive the same type of harsh criticism for trying suh an audacious move, but maybe, since you are the creator of thefilm, it will be seen less like psycho and more like vadim's thing...you knowthe movie he remade w/rebecca demornay...
you know...

LOL...We can re-create the same bad lighting...the same bad werewolf design...the same arc of blood as it splashes across my head as it rises into the frame from below the dummy. ... more like vadim's thing...you knowthe movie he remade w/rebecca demornay... you know... And God Created WomanAh yes...I know it well. ;D

by the way, for those who are completely baffled by this thread, young michael west was quite an auteur in his grade school days, producing no fewer than , what 3 opuses (opi?) as a lad, (20,000,000 light years to earth, aliens among us, and moonlght...were there any more, mike?) and then a couple more films in college. (replay, of tomorrows unknown, and, of course, the orivous project)
Mike's pre-teen films are in my opinion, the most interesting, in that they paved the way for his future as a horror novelist extraordinaire; they were all horror films, and all belied his taste in the horrific by displaying vast amounts of gore, usuallyenacted upon mike's brother, tony, although the occasional neighbor and other brother played the victim. i, unfortunately, was never in one of these early efforts, although my bad acting mars a few of the later efforts...
at any rate, the first few are classics of the "grade school horror" genre, and must, in my opinion,be revived as and distributed as the classics they are...

...were there any more, mike? There was the Anti-Psycho commercial where this Darkman-inspired deformed guy hacked up a girl in the shower. Then we cut to you stepping out of the shower and advertising the anti-psycho weapon. "How many times has this happened to you?"

Do we even want to get into the German commercials?

I really did enjoy that, it was very interesting-- I need that "anti-psycho weapon", Mike-- NOW! for dates!!! (still single) kind of like it-- but there are more psychos moving in by the day-- last week? I thought I saw one hanging out under the light by the corner, looked sort of Halloween-ish (the movie, not the Holiday) . . . it's imperative that you begin work (or at least slip me some hints -- (LOL) also? I need some Karma-- it's embarassing-- does bringing popcorn and hanging out on weekends count? *tossing multi-colored glitter* just in case. . .
